My trip one year ago😀

Last year in the Christmas holidays my Dad,my Cousin and I went to the West Coast for a holiday.

4:30am
First we drove down to Greymouth The first thing we did when we got there was unpack all of our stuff. Then we got into some nice clothes and went out for  dinner at the local restaurant 🍔 I got a burger,my dad got fish 🐟 and my cousin got hot dogs 🌭. After we were finished eating  we went back to the batch to have some dessert. We had chocolate cake. Following that we went to sleep.

6:00am
The next morning we woke up at 6:00am because we were going to drive to Hokitika to go on a treetop walk  and to meet up with my cousins and uncles, we saw a lot of cool 😎 birds. After we finished the walk we went down to Shantytown. At Shantytown we went on a train and went gold mining . Following that we went for a swim. Later that night we ate dinner and went to bed.

my News Letter item

On Tuesday morning we were joined by Scott Tulloch (a self taught illustrator and author) for our Duffy Role Model assembly. Mr Tulloch has published more than 25 books. He spoke to us about a few of his books. He showed us a video of his book ‘I Am Not A Worm’, which was one of favourite books when I was 8! He drew a picture of Mr Adams to show us how to draw and get ideas, and what to focus on when drawing. Mr Tulloch likes to use pictures as much as words to tell a story, which I think makes his books more enjoyable for younger children. He told us a story when he was younger and came last in the school cross country, I can relate to this because I don’t really enjoy doing the cross country either, but he has taught me to persist even when things get hard or are difficult. Thank you to Duffy and the sponsors for our books this term. Ellie Whelan Year 7

WHY WE SHOULD LEAVE SCHOOL WEARING OUR SPORTS UNIFORM

I STRONGLY BELIEVE  that the senior syndicate should be able to wear their sports uniform home on Fridays.

It takes along time to get changed  because you have to wait for everyone to finish also what you do if your parents were waiting for you at drop off they might have to go around the block a few times and you might get told off for being late.

What if you had an after school activity or sport you might be late. What would you do if your game goes late? Get changed in the girls bathroom EWW! No one wants to do that.

It represents our school, it has our school logo and colours.

So in conslusion I think we should be able leave in our sports uniform because it takes along , you might be late for something and it represents our school.

I should be class captain

I thing we should have a class captain and that I would be a great candidate .

I have watched this school grow over the years like room 7 being turned into a classroom many times. I also know where everything is and where to find things . This could help me at being class captain because if anyone needed anything I would be able to help.

I would really like to make play times fun. Having games and challenges at break times. I think there should be games at break times so that everyone has something to do and know one is left out.

The final reason is I'm kind I enjoy laughing I'm easy to get along with and I would be open to what everyone has to say. Any ouestions about the school? If so come to me I'm always listening.

I think you should vote for me because , I care about what you have to say, I want to make things fun , and I have seen the school over the years

My story

The year was 2001 when I  became a refugee and a witness of war..

My name is Bana Hamza I have sapphire eyes, gliming  chocolate hair that looks like the icing off a chocolate cake. I often wear long cruddy, rugged shirts. We don't have much we live on weat and stale bread. My mum works for a lady called Sara Victor , she cleans her house , it's not a very good job She only makes $5 am hour she works for seven hours straight. I was born in 1997 in Syria , when I was born Syria was a nice place at least I thought so. The date was the 19th of February 2001. I was at school playing a game when a bomb hit two blocks away From our school, there were two other schools in the area that got hit bad no Survivors. We  all went down to the basement it was dreadful 200 kids stuck in a basement. We heard footsteps upstairs and gunshots all around us. All of a sudden the basement doors swung open. There was a man standing there  wearing a dusky bandanna over his mouth.  He grabbed  a bunch of kids and put them in a white dusty van. It was a ghastly, I should know I was one of them. I was scared, Cold and alone. I miss my mum so bad. When I was sitting in the back of that white van I was thinking about my dad, he had a very lengthy body that's like a long train that's all I can remember about him every since the accident. The van stopped to a hult , everything when quiet, then the doors of the white van  swung open  he grabbed us and put us on a boat. A man wrapped a black charcoal blanket over me. Then all of a sudden it became real, I realised what just happened I became a refugee...

(24 hours later). I'm so glad, but scared for what lies ahead. We had finally reached the border of NZ. They accepted us, I'm very glad that we reached the gifted, glorious , green grassy country. I look in the distance it's my mother. I run over to her with my arms wide open, I can't believe it I'm safe at last . Two years later. My mother and I lived I good life in NZ, our life is finally good
